A core committee meeting of MANEI was held yesterday at the residence of MANEI president Ngariyanbam Modhuchandra Singh at Ranipur.
Many representatives from various areas of North East took part in the meeting namely Athokpam Manglemjao from Mizoram , Akoijam Jugindro from Meghalaya, Sarat Thokchom from Jiribam, Maisnam Nandakumar from Hailakandi (Assam), Wahengbam Bidyasunder from Lakhipur (Cachar) along with vice president of MANEI Khaidem Kanta.
The representatives deliberated on the difficulties and hardship faced by Meitei people in Manipur and outside the State before adopting a number of resolutions.
The resolutions were rendering support to the demand for enlisting Manipuri people residing in Assam as an indigenous people of Assam, appreciating establishment of anti-corruption cell up by the Manipur Government, extension of support to the demand for Inner Line Permit System and prevention of unnecessary violence with other communities and submission of a memorandum to the authority concerned regarding opening of Manipur Bhavan in Shillong.
The meeting further decided to demand the authority concerned to resume Imphal-Silchar flight service, develop Jiribam-Imphal highway, protect and preserve Manipuri language and demand the State Government to build a guest house in Manipur for the convenience of outsiders.
Athokpam Malemjaoba would fill up the vacant vice president seat of the association and Akoijam Jugindro has been assigned the post of external affairs secretary and Sarat Thokchom has been elected as the spokesperson of the association.
The members agreed to submit a representation to the CM of Manipur within April 22 .
