Satyabhama murder case hearing begins

The argument hearing of Ningombam Satyabhama alleged rape and murder case, began today at Session Court Imphal East.
The accused of the case, identified as Kshetrimayum Biju alias Holendro s/o Ibungo of Irilbung Thongkhong, Thoudam Jiban s/o (L) Thoiba of Irilbung Machahal Leikai and Toijam Thesis alias Aboi alias James s/o T Jugindro of Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai, were produced before the Session Court Imphal East in connection with the argument hearing today.
During the hearing today, the Court heard the submission of the Special PP from the side of the prosecution and fixed February 21 for further submission hearing of the Special PP.
The argument hearing was held after the completion of accused examination of the three accused before the Court a few months back and during the accused examination, the three individuals did not put forward any prayers for producing their defense witnesses.
Charges were framed against the three accused on September 20, 2013, and the first prosecution witness of the trial, gave his statement before the Court on December 5, 2013.One Jitumani Das, from Kamrup, Assam, gave his statement as the last prosecution witness of the case on September 1, last year.
It may be mentioned that Ningombam Satyabhama, a Junior Research Fellow at Pathology Department, RIMS, was found brutally murdered (with bruise marks on her neck and body) in a canal at Wangkhei Loumanbi Loukol, under Irilbung PS, on April 5, 2013, a couple of days after she left her Kakwa residence.
The three accused were arrested a few days later after the incident, by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) which was constituted to solve and arrest the people involved in the brutal murder case.
