Imphal, March 16 2015:
Former Minister V Hangkhalian may face defamation suit for declaring that the National People's Party (NPP) has been abolished and the party no longer exists.
Speaking to some media persons at Hotel Yaisana here today, NPP National general secretary CH Ajang Khongsai said that no harm was done when former party president and former Minister V Hangkhalian left the party to join BJP.
But his declaration that NPP has been abolished is unacceptable.
Even though Hangkhalian was the president of NPP Manipur till September 15, 2012, he did not renew his primary membership after that.
As such, the party has already snapped all links with Hangkhalian.
He should tender an open apology to the people of Manipur within seven days otherwise a defamation suit would be filed against him in accordance with the instruction of NPP National president PA Sangma, CH Ajang said.
