JAC says will not hold back if Govt fails to keep its promise

27 individuals, including volunteers of JAC on Thang-Ta Teachers Recruitment, along with students/players, who were jailed and kept in juvenile home and later released, in connection with the movement demanding inclusion of Thang-Tateachers among the recruitment of Higher Secondary lecturers, were received in a grand ceremonytoday.
The reception ceremony was held at Government Dance College, Konung Lampak in which chairman and convenor of the JAC along with its members provided warm welcome to the released individuals.
JAC chairman Okram Manglem Meetei, while speaking to media persons, said that the ceremony was organised to respect the individuals who fought bravely for upliftment of Thang-Ta, which has deep traditional and cultural roots in the Manipur society.
He conveyed that these 27 individuals will be given titles and memorial functions will be organised in their name from next year.
Ten women members were included among the 27 individuals, he added.
It can be recalled that these individuals were arrested for taking part in a movement, demanding inclusion of Thang Ta teachers in the list of 688 Higher Secondary Lecturers, while the written examination of the same was organised by Education (S) Director on November 11.Meanwhile, JAC convenor Konsam Jiten Mangang said that the volunteers of the JAC along with the students of Thang Ta were released after an agreement was reached between the Department concerned and the representatives of JAC at the office of Education Minister recently.
As per the negotiation, the Government has agreed to hold a special meeting on November .28, to discuss the recruitment of Thang-Ta teachers, in the presence of experts.
The meeting will deliberate on the criteria for recruitment along with the number of posts to be provided and the steps to be taken up by the authorities concerned to initiate the selection and teaching process from the next academic session, at higher secondary level.
The convenor expressed hope that the Government will fulfil its promises and warned that the JAC will not hold back from launching stringent agitations again if the Government fails to keep its promise.
