Woman threatened, sit-in staged

Imphal, September 15 2017:
In protest against the alleged threat served to a woman by pressing a pistol to her head by an individual who came on a Bolero car at Ragailong, womenfolks of the locality staged a sit-in-protest today at the local ground .
Speaking to media persons, general secretary of Ragailong Women's Society, Kamei Gainem said that the incident occurred yesterday at around 7.30 pm .
She claimed that an individual who identified himself as a Government Officer came to the locality on a Bolero car bearing registration number MN01X- 8702 at around 7 pm .
According to her, the individual stopped his car near the village entrance blocking a large portion of the road.
A couple who were returning home on a car gave horn to give way for passage which the individual refused to do so .

Thereafter, a scuffle erupted at the spot between the couple and the unidentified man.
All of a sudden, the man took out a pistol and pressed to the woman's head threatening to shoot her .
Kamei Gainem alleged that the unidentified man also scolded the couple using abusive words .
Later, the man fled the area after the locals were alarmed to intervene into the incident, she said .
She said that despite the prohibition of entry of outsiders at Ragailong after 7 pm to maintain peace in the area, some rogue persons often tried to enter the area and create disturbances defying the prohibition .
Strongly condemning the act of the man, Kamei Gainem demanded the authorities concerned to arrest the man and award befitting action .
She also demanded a clarification from the man at the earliest over his act of high-handedness.
