Imphal, December 08 2014:
Renowned Football Coach Soibam Ekendra, while giving his comments on the controversial ban on Indian Boxer L Sarita by the AIBA, said that the matter should be investigated by authorities concerned.
In an exclusive interview with this Daily, Ekendra expressed his view that the sports authorities need to investigate on why Sarita offered her medal to the opponent at the medal ceremony of Incheon Asian Games.
Instead of blaming the woman boxer for the incident, the authority should mete out proper judgment on the controversy, he commented.
Ekendra opined that defiance of Sarita to accept the medal was due to the biased judgment of the judges.
The Judges need to be awarded severe punishment for sabotaging the career of a promising sports woman, he said.
'Might is right' is not applicable in sports, added the football coach, while commenting that the judges were responsible for the incident.
It is not judicious to restrict the sports career of an eminent sportsperson who is eying for Olympic Medal, said Ekendra while appealing to the sports authorities to enable her to perform in upcoming championships.
