Nursing students take oath

The lamp lighting, capping and oath taking ceremony of Female Health Worker's Training School, Lamphel, was held today at its conference hall whereinatotal of 19 students (16th batch) of the institute took oath.
The functipn was graced by Dr K Rajo Singh, Director ( Health & Family Welfare Services); Dr Md Salamatt Ullah, Additional Director (Family Welfare Services); Dr P Shyamsunder Singh, Additional Director, Health (Manpower & Development); Vungzanem Valte, Joint Director, Nursing, Medical Directorate and P Landhoni Devi, Nursing Superintendent, JNIMS as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the function, Dr Rajo described nursing profession as a'noble profession and exhorted the FHWs who took oath today to serve every community and people regardless of caste, creed and religion with sincerity, dedication and commitment.
He also asked the trainees who are undergoing training at the institute to earn deserving skills and knowledge so that they can meet the standards of the profession when they come into practice in hospitals and in community level.
Nurses from Manipur are in high demand in other States as well as in foreign countries due to their potential and ability, he added.
Informing that the Female Health Worker's Training School has been imparting training to nursing students since last many years under the Family Welfare Department, Dr Rajo divulged that efforts are on to improve the pay structure of its staff and stipend of the students/trainees of the institute.
Giving keynote address, K Sunita Devi, Principal of the institute conveyed that the institute established in 1984 has so far produced 1080 nurses despite facing many shortages in terms of infrastructures and manpower.
She continued that the students/trainees who took oath today have received six months training course from the institute as per the norms of Indian Nursing Council (INC) .
She also urged the Government and the authorities concerned to improve the infrastructure of the institute so that it could impart world class training to nursing students.
