17 Cong ward members of JMC join BJP

In a major setback to Congress party in Jiribam district, 17 Congress ward members of Jiribam Municipal Council on Thursday joined BJP and they have been received by Chief MinisterN Biren Singh.
The ward members who joined BJP are Ch Samarjit Singh, Lalbahadur Gonla, L Sanjoy Singh, Santanu Roy, E Dijen Singh, S Joychandra Sharma, Th Arun Singh, Sarath Kumar Singh, RK Sobita Devi, S Shantikumar Singh, Abdul Basir, K Chandra Babu Singh, H Nabachandra Singh, Hijam Shana Singh, A Delip Kumar Singh, Md Amaj Uddin and M Sangita Devi.
Speaking at the reception held for the new members of the party, Chief Minister ridiculed an advertisement of the Congress in newspapers which questioned the 'many development works' of the BJP led State Government.
He questioned Congress if there was ever a healthy relationship between the hills and valley before the BJP led Government came to power and blamed Congress for removal of the special status.
Speaking about the various projects and schemes launched, he questioned Congress if helicopter service was there before his Government.
"Was there any women's market in hill districts? Was there any health scheme/cards like CMHT for the poors? Was there any Cabinet sitting in hill districts? Was there a Go To Village or Go to Hills like missions before? Was there a Meeyamgi Numit?" he asked.
