Minister inspects school on 'No School Bag Day'

Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam today visited Budhimanjuri High School, Sagolband Tera Loukram Leirak as a part of the No School Bag Day and interacted with the students about their hobbies and interests.
During the visit, students were found practicing arts and crafts with teachers.
The students were making traditional banana leaf bowl (dona), plates and houses design from papers.
The students later gathered at the school ground recited poems and sang songs.
The Minister advised the teachers to encourage the students to make them participate in extra-curricular activities for overall improvement.
Head of the school should chalk out list of extracurricular activities for each class in advance through discussion and consultation with teachers and inform students/parents accordingly, he said.
Th Radheshyam said that students should be made to feel that the school is their second home where they can learn at ease.
He also appealed to the teachers to motivate the students even more when they are lacking behind.
He said that fear and anxiety dishearten the students.
He urged the teachers to treat the students as their own, impart education with affection so as to make them able to express their views and ideas without hesitation.
The student � teacher relationship needs to be made friendlier so that the students can approach the teachers anytime when they need.
Students should be taught to maintain neatness to instill in them a sense of work culture and cleanliness in school and their surroundings.
The Minister said that No School Bag Day policy aims at building positive culture amongst children, providing platform for innovative ideas to be born and reduce the stress and harmful effects of carrying heavy bags.
The No School Bag Day is implemented by the Department of Education(S), Manipur for students from Class I � VIII to attend school without school bags on all working Saturdays.
No School Bag Day is being implemented in schools with efforts to add various extra and co-curricular activities to make learning more fun, structured and meaningful.
Director, Education (S), Th Kirankumar Singh, officials concerned and ZEOs who accompanied the Minister also inspected the school infrastructure.
