COHSEM goofs-Up again

Imphal, March 02 2013 : In yet another goof-up by Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur, question papers of the Engineering Drawing subject for the ongoing Higher Secondary Examination (Class XII exam) were distributed along with answers printed on them among the students today.

Abdur Rehman, a student of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School, who appeared in the examination at EK Higher Secondary School, Sangakpham today, told media persons that students of class XII Science who opted for Engineering Drawing subject have to answer the questions in the form of drawings.

However, when the invigilator handed over the question papers, the students were shocked to find that every question asked in the paper had a corresponding answer just below.

When pointed out the goof-up, the invigilator assured that it might be hints to the answers of the questions being asked.

However, after a thorough look into the question papers, it was known that the answers given below every question are the actual answer.

Since, the invigilator did not say anything, all the students starting answering the questions, Rehman said.

It was after 15 minutes that the invigilator came in and snatched away all the question papers, saying that the question papers have been wrongly printed with the answers.

Later, they were asked to leave the examination hall saying that the exam for the subject has been postponed, Rehman recalled.

A Thoithoi, General Secretary of DESAM, while briefing media persons in this connection at the office at Keishampat here today, stated that providing question papers with the answers printed on them is nothing but sheer negligence on the part of the Council and so all those involved in setting the question papers should be find out for taking up appropriate actions.

The conduct and negligence of the Council has created such a situation where the morale of the students has been brought down.

So, the Council should make sure that such blunders do not occur in future, Thoithoi added.

Meanwhile, Dr H Nabachandra, Secretary of Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur has informed Hueiyen Lanpao that an Enquiry Committee has been formed to pull up those responsible for the blunder.

While appealing to the students not to get distracted and keep their mind focus on their upcoming papers, Dr Nabachandra said that the examination for the Engineering Drawing subject has been rescheduled on March 25 from 1 pm to 4:15 pm.
