Maj Gen U K Gurung meets Moreh leaders

On his maiden visit to Moreh, IG AR (S), Maj Gen UK Gurung, YSM interacted with community leaders of Moreh town and assured them of full cooperation from Assam Rifles in all their endeavors.
A press issued by PRO, IG AR (S) stated that the IG AR (S) further complimented them for maintaining peace and harmony in the border town and also commended the healthy interaction of the unit with social organizations as well as residents of Moreh.
He was accompanied by Brig Upendra Dwivedi, Commander 26 Sector AR.
Meanwhile, 31 AR of 26 Sector AR under HQ IGAR (South) flagged off today an educational tour to Bangalore in Moreh.
A total of 13 boys and 12 girls along with four teachers from Chandel district are taking part on the tour.
The children were selected who have an aptitude to grasp the relevance of visits organised during the tour.
The education tour is aimed to provide an exposure into the rich cultural heritage of southern India along with visits to industries like Bharat Earth Movers Limited and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
During the flag off ceremony Col Ravroop Singh, SM addressed the community leaders and the parents of the students and stressed upon the need to maintain communal harmony for development and prosperity of the region.
He also highlighted that children are our future and excursions like these will provide a rich experience to them for their overall development, stated a PRO, IG AR (S) press release.
On the other hand, a team of medical officers and paramedical staff of 22 GRENADIERS of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) conducted a Medical Camp at Changpol village today.
More than 120 patients from Changpol, Zoidam, Gomnon and T Nampao villages were diagnosed and provided medicines.
The villagers were educated about various diseases including AIDS, malaria and the precautionary measures.
While, troops of 36 AR of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) provided ration for Mid Day Meal to the students of Phoilen village in Chandel district.
The school is located near the Indo-Myanmar border and lacks most of the basic facilities for the students.
