Imphal, March 30 2010:
A report on the conditions and administrative patterns followed by private schools has been submitted to the Directorate of Education (S) .
The report submitted to Education Director M Harekrishna was prepared by a committee specifically constituted by the State Government for the same purpose.
The nine-member committee was headed by N Kunjamohan, former Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur and the Council of Higher Secondary Education.
Kunjamohan submitted the report to Harekrishna at the latter's office at Lamphel this morning.

The committee in its meeting held with the Education Director on April 25 last year decided to conduct a random survey in Government recognised private schools about their policies, infrastructure etc, Kunjamohan said.
Subsequently, the committee visited some private schools and took stock of their conditions.
The committee members also interacted with school management committees and Principals.
During the course of the survey, many schools were found inadequate in many areas such as lack of proper buildings, incompatibility between classrooms and strength of students, absence of toilet facilities or playgrounds etc.
It was also discovered that most of the schools were exploiting teachers without paying salaries commensurate to their service, M Kunjamohan disclosed.
Both teaching and non-teaching staff of these schools were not provided any necessary service facilities such as EPF, insurance, medical advance etc.
The committee, after collecting first hand knowledge of the existing condition of private schools, recommended that the existing school recognition rules be replaced by a more comprehensive one incorporating all the necessary guidelines for establishment of a private school.
Other recommendations of the committee included enactment of an all encompassing Private Schools Regulation Act to regulate private schools in a systematic manner and establishment of a cell in the Directorate of Education (S) to look after matters relating to the private schools.
It also recommended institutional mapping of the State to find out the existing distribution of the Schools in the State and to ensure an even distribution as recommended by the Right to Elementary Education Act 2009 .
Education Director M Harekrishna said that the report submitted by the committee will be examined minutely and due efforts would be put in to implement all possible recommendations.
