SAT celebrates foundation day

The 32nd foundation day of the State Academy of Training (SAT) was celebrated today at the administrative block of the Academy located at Takyelpat.
Additional Chief Secretary/ Director General of SAT Dr Suhel Akhtar graced as the chief guest of the celebration while Special Secretary M Harekrishna, Deputy Director, SAT A Shivadas Sharma and Additional Director, SAT W Chandra Kumar attended as the guests of honour and functional president respectively.
SAT was established in 1985 in pursuance of the recommendations set out in the Chief Secretaries Conference on May 7 and 8, in 1976 under the Chairmanship of the Prime Minister of India to develop Human Resources in the administrative and executive personnel at the cutting edge level by imparting training to bring about a fully developed administration as a part of National Policy.
The SAT is an apex Advanced Training Institute of the State.

Highlighting the objectives of setting up SAT, Special Secretary M Harekrishna said, the institute is the nerve centre of training in Manipur and to provide guidance to all the departments and institutions of the State Govt as well as the NGOs' on quality training and capacity building.
The mission is also to develop the State Academy of Training as a centre of excellence with regard to human resource development of the officials of the Government of Manipur.
While the chief guest Dr Suhel Akhtar suggested various departments of the State Govt where further training and refreshers courses needs to be conducted.
Citing some examples, he mentioned that the Manipur Police Department should be given thorough training on behavioural development on how to bring qualitative changes.
He also suggested various areas where Government employees should be trained to interact well with the public.
He further asked the officials of SAT to include divisive curriculum for training and to make it interesting.
As part of the foundation day celebration today, a street play named "Khutnai Khutlai" based on RTI Act 2005, developed by SAT was showcased.
