Imphal, May 29 2016:
Government Polytechnic Students' Union has banned issuance of admission forms for academic session 2016-17 protesting Government apathy towards infrastructure inadequacy of the institute.
In a statement, the union said that Government Polytechnic, Takyelpat does not have Principal, toilet, adequate classrooms, power and water supplies.
It alleged that the Education Minister has turned a blind eye to the inconvenience faced by the oldest Engineering college of the State although the matter has been highlighted on many occasions.
The union questioned how a college can be run without a Principal.
It further said that no practical class can be conducted at the institute due to unavailability of power and water supplies in the workshop and laboratory.
As such, the union would ban issuance of admission forms for the new academic session until these problems are solved by the Government, the statement said.
