A 25-year old unmarried woman, six month pregnant, was killed allegedly by her lover boy in a brutal manner and abandoned in Thoubal district in a bizarre incident reported today.
Following the recovery of the dead body of the woman, villagers of the Andro Chingon Leikai where the woman hailed from set on fire the house of the alleged culprit who was arrested by the police after the discovery of the lifeless body.
The dead body of 25-year old woman identified as Asem Nanao @ Rajeshwori daughter of A Jugeshwor of Andro Chingon village was found hiding in a bush at the bank of the Imphal river at Chingtham Kona under Thoubal police station yesterday morning, at about 8 am.
Police retrieved the badly decomposed dead body from the bush when conduct search there based on the disclosure made by her lover boy identified as Irom Chaoren (28) son of I Biren of Thoubal Leishangthem.
The woman failed to return home after going out on June 18 in which family thought that she eloped with her lover boy.
But failure to inform from the family of the lover boy even three day had passed; family lodged a missing report with the Yairipok police on June 21. In the missing report, family pointed out her lover Irom Chaoren of keeping conceal the woman after eloping as his wife.
Choaren and Inao have love affairs for around two years.
Chaoren used to visit his elder brother Jiten residing at the neighbour of the woman frequently.
While, family of Rajeshwori were on hectic effort to trace out her, a phone call allegedly from Chaoren, posing as an activist of an underground group, informed the younger brother of Rajeshwori that she was abducted by them for being informer of Army.
Later, from the same mobile number, it was informed that she had been released.
Later, in response to the complaint lodged by the family of Rejeshwori, rounded up Chaoren on the night of June 26 last from his own home by the Thoubal police and from interrogation, police came to know that Chaoren eloped with Rajshwori.
When his family refused to accept her as their daughter in-law, Chaoren admitted that he took away her and strangulated her at a bush at the bank of river at Chongtham Kona under Thoubal police station.
Police conducted a search operation at the place he pointed where the dead body of the woman in badly decomposed state was discovered yesterday morning.
A public meeting presided over by the Chief of Andro was held at Andro Chingon Leikai today in which members of local Meira Paibis and clubs also took part.
The meeting unanimously resolved to demand befitting punishment to the culprit woman murderer and adequate compensation to the family of the victim woman with a government job to one of the members of the family and not to take back the dead body of the woman still lying at RIMS morgue until the demands are fulfilled among others.
A memorandum containing the resolution of the meeting was also submitted to the Chief Minister through the local MLA, Th Shyamkumar.
In the meantime, after the housed of the elder brother of the alleged murderer was set on fire yesterday, around 400 villagers of six vehicles proceeded to the house of the murderer at Thoubal Leishangthem today.
However, police stopped on the way and prevented them from causing any damage to the house of Chaoren.
On the other hand, a public meeting at Leishangthem has decided to turn out the murderer and his family from the locality for all time along with those who gave shelter to them.
