Choithar village, Ukhrul
who scored the highest

Higher Secondary Examination
conducted by
COHSEM, far from

examination, is today
despondent and a frustrated
young lady due to the
immense financial burden
the family has to undergo
for her higher education.
For the record,
Longpinao scored 79.4 pc

A product of Savio
Higher Secondary School,
Awungtang, Ukhrul, she
shifted to Ukhrul for her
studies from her village at
Choithar in Class VIII
and all these years her
parents have been
bending backwards to
meet her educational
expenses.
Speaking to this
correspondent, the young
girl said that she had to
burn the mid night oil to
get through the exam in
flying colours and
credited her mother for
her unstinted support.
"Many a time my
mother would console
and encourage me
whenever I felt disheartened
and thought of
giving up studies due to
the financial trouble the
family had to undergo
for my education," she
added.
After COHSEM
declared the Class XII
results, she approached
her relatives and near
and dear ones for
financial assistance to
pursue her higher
education.
Despite the financial
hardships the family has
to bear, Longpinao said
she will continue with her
studies and her ultimate
aim is to crack the civil
services exam.
At the moment she is
planning to pursue her
higher studies from one
of the metro cities and
earn by the side to finance her education.
She also plans to go in for
distance learning at the Master's level.
The second last among seven siblings, her parents are
cultivators.
During holidays, she goes to her village to earn
daily wages and help her parents.
As Choithar is not so far from Ukhrul town, she sometimes
go to the village after school to collect vegetables and
sell them to meet her necessary school expenditure.
She began her schooling in the village, and from Class- VII
onward shifted to Ukhrul town for her education.
