Students protest over transfer of teachers

Protesting against the sudden transfer of two teachers of Kwatha High School in Tengnoupal, students of the school accompanied by Kwatha Village Authority and Kwatha Meira Paibi Lup staged a sit-in demonstration at the school today.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, T Sanjoy, secretary Kwatha Village Authority stated that for the development of Kwatha High School, six rooms had been built as teachers quarters under the supervision of Chief Minister N Biren Singh and with the assurance that teachers from the area will be selected to work at the school to ensure that the school will continue to flourish.
At this juncture, the transfer of two teachers from the locality, namely, A Bira and T Tara, who have devoted their time for the betterment of the school, points at a lack of care for the fate of the school, he added.
Appealing for the transfer order to be revoked and for the teachers to resume their work at the school, he stated that ongoing exams at the school had been halted due to the transfer of the two teachers.
Stating that the transfer order cited 'public interest' as the reason for transfer, he shared that people of Kwatha had made no complaints against the two teachers.
He appealed to the relevant authority to send the two teachers back to the school so that the examinations can resume.
