A one-day discussion programme on the significance of Lamyanba Irabot memorial observance was held today at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Gate.
The programme was organised by Lamyanba Irabot Ningshing Thouram Observation Committee (LINTOC) Manipur (PPCM's component organisations, AMPFA, IFM, JSCC and LOUSAL) .
Addressing the programme, Associate Professor of MU, Chinglen Meisnam said there are no leaders who can sway the emotion of the people like Lamyanba Irabot although there are many leaders who can burn effigies.
Irabot strongly held the belief that problem cannot be solved without any struggle or fight, M Chinglen said while adding that the people need a struggle and not celebration.
Pointing out that there are 4.67 lakh illiterates in the State and many people without enough food, Chinglen said the State would have no illiterate population had Irabot been alive today.
He also stressed on the need to increase food production in the State so as to make the State self-sufficient.
Other speakers of the programme included Dr Arabam Noni, Assoc Prof of Moirang College; Khoirom Loyalakpa, editor of Naharolgi Thoudang and Dr Sukhdeva Sharma, Assoc Prof of IGNTU.
