Man found dead

CCpur, August 24 2017:
Rescue volunteers finally found the lifeless body of a 60 year old man, who went missing after he went to Khuga lake with a pile of firewood, floating on the water, effectively con-cluding the week long search operation conducted by philanthropic organisations .
The deceased, P Lam-suanthang (60) of Phaibem village, was last seen on the lake in a wooden canoe along with a pile of fire wood he had collected .
Family members and local people immediately launched a search operation after he failed to return home and the search operation was gradually joined by several organisations .
Local made dinghy and canoes were deployed during the first couple of days of the search operations and were later supplemented by a motorboat of the Sikh Regiment posted at the dam site .
Some garments along with a cap worn by the individual were recovered from the area where he was last seen, lending volunteers much needed clue to continue the search for nearly a week .
Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian along with Singhat MLA, GS Haopu, had previously visited the family of the deceased as well as the camps set up by the search volunteers.
Several ADC Members and numerous organisations also donated supplies and cash to keep the search going .
The body of the deceased was laid to rest at the village's cemetery, later today.
