PHED supplies drinking water

Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Thoubal, provided drinking water and chemicals for water treatment to the flood affected people of Tentha Heibung and Tentha Khunou today, our correspondent reports.
PHED, Thoubal Assistant Engineer (AE) Narengbam Livingstone said the department under the aegis of Thoubal DC T Ranjit and PHED Thoubal Executive Engineer MA Samad, has started supplying drinking water and chemicals for water treatment like alum, bleaching powder, chlorine tablets and lime at relief camps to prevent outbreak of water-borne diseases at flooded areas of the district.
The department will continue to provide similar benefits at other parts of the district, he added.
In the meantime, Sekmaijin, Laphupat, Arong Nongmaikhong and other places under district have been flooded as the water level of Imphal river rose following heavy rainfall yesterday.
A house at Mantak village, Kakching owned by one Akon Kom (70) was also damaged in a landslide yesterday, this correspondent reports.
Wabagai MLA Md Fajur Rahim supplied food grains and other necessary items to the relief camp set up at Keirak Primary Madrassa.
District Health Society, Thoubal under the National Health Mission, on the other hand, organised free medical camps at Sanatombi High School Keirak, Tentha Heibung Makhong and Sangaiyumpham yesterday.
The camps were held under the supervision of State Health Director Dr Okram Ibomcha Singh, District Health Society Thoubal Chairman/Deputy Commissioner T Ranjit Singh and District Health Society Thoubal CMO Dr N Jayantakumar Singh.
