Following the NSCN-IM's revelation of having arrested one of its commanding officer allegedly involved in the abduction and murder of the Kasom Khullen SDO, the Manipur People's Party (MPP) on Tuesday urged the central government to ask the outfit to hand over the culprit to the state government for necessary judiciary actions.
The regional political party of the state also demanded the review of the function of the NSCN-IM's monitoring cell and demanded that the outfit be termed "terrorist".
During a press conference of the party at its office Tuesday, Ch Chandramani, president of MPP asserted that for the past eleven years since the start of the peace talk between the NSCN-IM and the government of India (GoI), the people of the state have suffered disturbances from the outfit.
The president also alleged that besides ground rules of the peace talk being broken by the outfit, many have been killed and that illegal taxes have been levied from the general public.
In these regards, the MPP has also faxed the Union Home minister to intervene in the matter, added the president.
Leader of MPP and also member of legislative assembly (MLA), O.Joy also alleged that there was a motive behind the killing of the SDO and questioned on selective killing of those abducted.
In these regards, the MPP demanded that the NSCN-IM be termed a terrorist group and drew the attention of the concerns in the state to review the monitoring cell of the outfit.
MLA RK Anand, also spokesperson of the party, observed that too many unwanted incidents have occurred in the state during the time of the peace talk and asserted that it was a sign of the failure of the monitoring cell of the outfit.
Calling upon the central government to abolish those breaking the rules, leader of the MPP asserted that such problems should be fixed by the central government.
If the government fails in this regard, the Prime Minister and the Union Home minister should resign, demanded the leader of the MPP.
The MPP spokesperson stated that the state government should immediately call an all-political-party meeting about the current issue.
He also stated the allegations of the NSCN-IM that the SDO could have been killed due to the outfit's cadre's individual case, was a way of the outfit diverting the case and held that the NSCN-IM was solely responsible for the murder of the SDO and his two staffs.
The spokesperson also questioned why the central and state governments had failed in conducting a combing operation against the outfit when it knew that there were designated camps of the outfit in the state.
Dr Ng Bijoy also alleged that due to illegal taxation by the NSCN-IM in the state, price of essential commodities were increasing and held that it was the responsibility of the government to see to such acts.
The MPP also condemned the Union Home minister for not setting a side a time period to meet all the political parties of the state during his recent visit.
