Imphal, November 23 2011:
People of the State are facing inconvenience in seeking information through Right to Information (RTI) as the State Government has failed to appoint a new CIC after the tenure of former CIC RK Angousana expired on September 12 last.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, RTI activists said that in the absence of a CIC, RTI seekers are not able to get information in time according to the law of the land.
The activists added that they sometimes do not get information at all as the State Information Commissioner refuses to receive the complaints and applications on the excuse that the post of CIC is vacant.
They said that it is the right of a law abiding citizen of the country to get the true information for the applications filed under RTI.
The State Information Commissioner must receive the RTI complaints and applications until a new CIC is appointed by the Government, they demanded.
