Imphal, June 23 2016:
National Students Union of India, Manipur State is set to launch an inspection drive which will continue for two-three months to check the infrastructure and manpower inadequacy of various educational institutes of the State.
Speaking to reporters at Congress Bhavan yesterday, NSUI Manipur State president P Bankimchandra expressed serious concern over degradation of Government schools and colleges in the State.
He said that the Government must do the needful to enhance the condition of the Government educational institutes.
Saying that NSUI volunteers had visited some Government schools and colleges located at interior areas, Bankimchandra said that many teachers were found absent at these institutes.
As such, the Minister and Department concerned must take stringent actions against derelict teachers, he said.
On the otherhand, he said that price rise of essential commodities has given a huge impact to the life of the common people.
Narendra Modi led NDA Government has hiked petrol and diesel prices on five different occasions in the past two years.
Increase in fuel prices is one of the major causes for the price rise in essential commodities, he observed.
Transportation of essential commodities are mainly done by petrol and diesel-run vehicles, Bankimchandra said.
He urged the Government to look into the matter and take up immediate steps to control price rise.
