Flash rain destroy Razai village paddy field, PMGSY road

Ukhrul, September 22 2017:
Due to heavy downpour in the last two days, the paddy field of Razai Khullen village in Chingai block has been completely flooded with muds and stones from the upper slope, stated the headman Mishivam .
According to the headman, apart from completely flooding the paddy field, the only village road that connects with NH-150 constructed under PMGSY has been hit by landslides at many points .
The road from Razai Khunou (NH-150) to Razai Khullen covering a distance of 8 kms is in deplorable condition and has been completely cut off .
Mishivam stated that the road construction work was initiated in 2013 but after the fresh cutting of the road was completed, there has been no maintenance it was left abandoned.
The suspension bridge constructed under BADP in 2008 over Dina river to has also been partially washed away due to the rain .
He further said that at least 120 hectares of paddy fields have been destroyed due to flood .
The headman urged the PMGSY contractors concerned to clear the debris and mud deposit to rescue the villagers from immense hardship .
The headman also appealed to the State Government and the MLA concerned to intervene and help the aggrieved villagers.
