Kakching, July 22 2021:
While claiming that Kakching assembly constituency has highest rate of vaccination among the constituencies of the state, Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar has said more than 23,000 people out of the targeted 28,940 people of the constituency have been administered COVID-19 vaccine so far.
However, vaccination rate is still low in Sora area of the constituency and hence more vaccination programmes are being conducted and such programmes will continue in Sora area, Rameshwar said, after inspecting a vaccination programme conducted Thursday at Al Fiqar International School, Sora Mayai Leikai.
Rameshwar further said that vaccination is the only way to prevent spread of COVID-19 and hence people should vaccinate at the earliest to free from the virus.
He also appealed to people not to believe in rumours being spread on social media regarding COVID-19 vaccine while maintaining that chance of contracting the virus by those who have been vaccinated is very low.
As part of the initiative taken up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister N Biren Singh to vaccinate entire people of the country and the state, mass vaccination programmes are being conducted in Kakching AC and the constituency has become one of the highest vaccinated constituencies of the state, Rameshwar reiterated while adding that special emphasis will be given to vaccinating people in Sora area where vaccination rate is low.
He further appealed to people of Sora to vaccinate during the mass vaccination programme to be held on Friday at Sora Maning Leikai and help in making Kakching totally free from the virus.
Former Kakching MLA treated the people of Sora, Irengband and Pallel as second-class citizens for more than 13 years and this is one main reason behind underdevelopment in these areas, Rameshwar maintained, and assured of giving equal treatment and development to all people in Kakching AC.
The mass vaccination programme was organised by District Health Society Kakching in coordination with Anjuman Nasrul Islam (Ulama-e-Association), Sora president ML Zulfiqar Alam Sheikh and Kakching Polling No 37/29 BJP Polling Committee president WM Mangaijiddin under the aegis of MLA Rameshwar.
Around 130 people were vaccinated during the programme conducted by a medical team of PHC Pallel led by MO Dr Khangembam Gopeshore.
