First Kakching Festival kicks off

Kakching, May 21 2013:
With an aim to build up a peaceful society where youths are free from the menace of drugs, the 1st Kakching Festival kicked off from today under the aegis of Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO) at Kakching Garden.
The 5-day long festival started off with a Cross Country Race in and around Kakching.
The inaugural function of the festival was attended by Agriculture and Fishery Minister Md Abdul Nasir and MLA Y Surchandra as Chief Guest and President respectively.
Kshetri Subadani, Chairperson of Kakching Municipal Council and its Vice Chairperson M Brojen were also present on the occasion as Guests of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Md Abdul Nasir said that the people residing in Kakching are so sincere and humble that they can be compared to the innocent and sincerity of people settling in Andaman and Nicober Islands.
Kakching can very well be described as the Andaman and Nicober of Manipur.

The Minister pointed out that Kakching has become one of the most developed areas in the State because of the sincerity and hard work of its people.
"Since MLA of Kakching has turned Kakching into a very magnificent place, one need not go to Switzerland to see its beauty, because Kakching Garden has been magnificently made into a Switzerland of Manipur", the Minister exclaimed.
Delivering the Presidential speech, MLA Y Surchandra stated that with the development of Kakching garden, many people of Kakching have been benefitted in a number of ways.
A film city would also be constructed at Kakching Lake in Laipham Lotnung.
He further stated that the Kakching Festival will be organized in a big manner from next year onwards with addition of various programmes to attract people from far and wide.
