Imphal, October 20 2018:
Teachers and employees of Government aided schools in the State are considering different forms of agitation from November 1 onwards, if the State Government does not fulfil their demands, including remuneration of approved Government aided school employees on the scale of 6th Pay and filling of the vacant posts in Government aided schools by October 31.This was stated by spokesperson of Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Aided School Employees' Organization, S Bimol at a press meet held today at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
He informed that memorandum, highlighting the grievances and several demands of the employees have been submitted to the Chief Minister and Education Minister today.
He conveyed that the teachers and staffs of many Government aided schools have been facing untold sufferings owing to the prolonged negligence of the State Government to look into their plights and problems.
When all the Government employees are demanding for implementation of 7th Pay in the State, the teachers and staffs of Government aided schools are not even entertained the 6th Pay till date and they are paid on the outdated scale of 5th Pay, he said.
Government aided schools are facing acute shortage of teachers and other staffs, he said stating that this has added to their workload.
As the number of approved teachers in most of the Government aided schools are less, they are left with only few thousand rupees as salaries as the salaries of the non-approved teachers are shared from salaries of the few approved teachers, he said.
"Lesser number of approved teachers in the Government aided schools means lesser amount of salaries for all the staffs of the concerned schools.
Most of the schools have just one or two approved teachers," he added.
Saying that shortage of teachers also have severe negative impact on the affairs of the schools and education system as a whole, he urged the Government to hold DPCs to fill up the vacant posts in the Government aided schools at the earliest.
He claimed that the number of vacant posts in different Government aided schools is 280 .
Expressing hope that the Govt will fulfil their demands by October 31 this year, the spokesperson cautioned that all the Govt aided employees will carry out different forms of agitations from Nov 1 if the Govt fails to meet their demands for a better education system.
