Shaping students with fitting education system mooted

BOSEM Secretary Akham Joykumar has called upon the people mainly guardians to shape their children with appropriate education system for the betterment of the society.
He said this while addressing the 7th foundation day celebration of Smart Universal Academy, Sekmaijin Khunou, Kakching district held today at its premises.
Speaking as chief guest, Joykumar pointed out the mistakes in the present trend of education system in the State and added that the prevailing tuition culture discourages self-exploration of the students.
He opined that education is about imparting knowledge to the students and not construction of school building structures even though necessary infrastructures in educational institutes is needed.
Defining education as a tool to extract the potential possessed by the children for the rightful purpose through proper guidance, Joykumar asserted that the objective of education can be achieved when there is collective efforts from teachers, parents and students.

Teachers, parents and students are the triangular pillars of education, he added.
Admitting that there are still some shortcomings in the present trend of examination system in the State, he said that the shortcomings could be rectified when the authorities concerned, including invigilators take their own responsibility.
Noting that installing CCTVs inside the examination centres will not bear much fruit in curbing unfair means, he said that many schools often ignore the exam norms of BOSEM during exams therefore invigilators, local clubs, students' organisations and the board authority must work hand in hand to stop using unfair means in exam.
He urged the parents and teachers to look into the matter of the adverse impacts on the student community due to the new scientific tools and gadgets.
Delivering presidential speech at the function, Narengbam Samarjit Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SALAI Holdings Private Limited asserted that scholars play a pivotal role in ancient Manipur by making active participation in the political and social affairs.
He said that people of the State are yearning for a new revolution in the education sector of the State for bringing positive changes in the society.
Maintaining that Smart Universal Academy was established with a firm objective of shaping the youth and children for a better society, he urged the teachers of the school to work with dedication and sincerity.
He observed that merely teaching students verbally will not yield desirable result in education.
Attitude of teachers while imparting knowledge to students is of paramount importance.
He also said that qualitative education cannot be determined by the quantity of learning.
It should be set by the quantity of understanding by the students, he added.
He appealed to the parents/guardians to consider their children as assets of future and provide substantial support to their education.
Today's function was also attended by S Gunamani Singh, BDO, Langmeidong, CD Block, N Sanjay Singh, Secretary, SMART Universal Academy among many others as the guests of honour.
