Imphal, February 20 2018:
Opposition Member Kh Joykisan today informed the Assembly during zero hour that the Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) has been providing neither manpower nor machinery even though large volumes of garbage and waste materials have been piled up at different places of Thangmeiband AC.
These garbages were collected in the course of the ongoing cleanliness drives which are being carried at different localities of Thangmeiband AC under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
When the IMC Mayor was approached to provide a vehicle and some labourers for disposing the garbage piles, the Mayor assured to do the needful but nothing has come out of the Mayor's assurance, Joykisan said.
He then expressed keen desire for the authorities concerned to extend a helping hand to the voluntary work being done by local club volunteers of Thangmeiband AC.
Taking advantage of the zero hour, MLA Abdul Nasir sought attention of the House for posting adequate number of teachers at Kwakta High School compatible with the strength of students.
O Henry pointed out that many encroachers have been occupying Imphal River banks between Lamlong Bridge and Minumong Bridge.
He also expressed keen desire for the State Government to repair and strengthen vulnerable portions of Imphal River banks.
