Imphal, January 20 2020: The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has cautioned to launch intense agitation if the State Government fails to put into practice all the agreements that were mutually agreed by the two parties.

As agreed upon August 13, 2019, 42 posts lying vacant in different categories in the Tribal Affairs & Hills Department are suppose to be filled up within one month is still a limbo, said a press release of ATSUM.

It also said that recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff under 6-Autonomous District Councils are also suppose to put up before the State Government for cabinet approval within three weeks for the recruitment process, but unfortunately not tangible action has been initiated so far.

The long-pending regularisation of 2006 batch contract teachers was agreed to be completed within two months (October \3, 2019), but even after the lapse of 5 months, the matter is yet to be resolved, it claimed, further alleging that the Government had also assured that the recruitment process for the post of 46 Lecturers MIL (tribal dialect) within two months, but so far nothing has been done.

The union also pointed out that three of the hill districts are functioning without a single Government's college.

Stating that no tangible progress was visible in the opening of B Ed colleges in Pettigrew College and Churachandpur College, it continued that Lamka College, Hill College Tadubi and Tamenglong College do not have a science stream.

It also reiterated that the Government had assured to complete the recruitment of ST backlog for the post of Assistant Professors within the January 2018, but so far nothing has been done on the ground.
