Maram Battalion under the aegis of Red Shield
Division celebrated Independence Day with mass participation of
the residents of Senapati district yesterday.
Pipe band of 35 Assam Rifles mesmerised the spectators
at Senapati ground, said a statement issued by PIB (DW).
On the other hand, Maram Battalion alongwith the locals
carried out flag hoisting at Mao, Maram, Sangkhumei,
Hengbung and T Khullen.
Other events conducted by Maram Battalion on this occa-
sion included friendly football and volleyball matches,
distribution of sports items in Sangkhumei and Paomata area,
distribution of food items to orphanage in Hengbung area.
Meanwhile on the occasion of Independence Day,
Jwalamukhi Battalion under the aegis of Red Shield Division
organized flag hoisting at Royal Children's Home at
Leimakhong and Eklavya School at Saparmaina by 'A' Com-
pany, Junior High School at 14 Mile and Orphanage Grace
Centre at T Akutpa by 'C' Company.
The National flag was hoisted by Post Commander of A
Company and C Company followed by the National Anthem.
The post commanders gave speech to encourage the chil-
dren to become a better citizen of India.
Sweets and stationery
items were distributed to the children during the event, the
statement added.
