Oil tanker driver shot at

Imphal, January 17, 2011:
The driver of an oil tanker was shot and injured in the right thigh by armed miscreants near Kholep village on NH 39, four km south of Sapermaina Police Station.
The driver of the oil tanker (MN-01-7544), Ram Bista (30) son of Man Bahadur Bista of Saikul Makhang village was shot on the night of January 15, around 9 pm, a police report said.
The miscreants fired at him while he was driving his empty tanker towards Kalapahar.
He has been admitted at the community health centre at Kangpokpi for medical treatment, the report said.
Meanwhile, two activists of the KRA identified as Lamminthang (18) son of Lamthang Chongloi of Motbung forest gate and Mantinthang (14) son of Sukai Haokip of Khogen village were arrested by police at Sekmai, a report said.
They were arrested with a demand letter signed by Rosan Kuki on behalf of Rocky, finance division, Saikul.
The letter was addressed to the secretary of an association of passenger service Tata Magic owners.
The group is demanding ` 1 lakh from the association which should be paid on or before January 21, the report added.
