Imphal, May 16 2023:
Apart from taking serious note of the 'unfortu-nate' clashes between Meetei and Kuki since May 3 in which numerous lives and properties on both the sides were lost and damaged, the armed Manipur Naga People's front (MNPF) strongly condemned the com-munal conflict which also dis-placed thousands of people.
According to an MNPF state-ment, Manipur is inhabited by more than 36 different in-digenous communities since time immemorial with their own distinct culture, tradi-tion and identities.
Forefathers of every community collec-tively defended the land from foreign invasion from time to time and nurtured 'motherland Manipur'.
However, today's generation neither remem-bers sacrifices made by the forefathers nor works in the interest and for survival of their own communities after falling prey to India's divisive policy consequently leading to the present communal clash which is akin to axing their own legs.
Such thoughts and designs to break apart Manipur will not only lead to more bloodshed among the indigenous com-munities but also will give huge advantage to adversary India, the MNPF said.
Asking if the Naga-Ku-ki clash from 1992 till 1994 brought any benefit to the motherland, the MNPF re-minded that the ethnic clashes separated scores of children from their parents while many were rendered orphan.
The clash also took lives of scores of brothers and sisters apart from reducing hundreds of houses to ashes thereby creating a chaotic situation in the land filled with cries and worries.
Similar to the past Naga and Kuki clash, the fresh outbreak of violence between the Meetei and Kuki communities will bring no benefit to the moth-erland other than taking lives of people and damaging prop-erties on both the sides.
The sole beneficiary will be enemy (India), which sowed the seed of hatred and division among the indigenous com-munities, the MNPF statement issued by publicity secretary Thomas Numai said.
When people of a colonised land launch sovereignty move-ment using all their might, it is natural for the colonising country to scheme divide & rule policy, Thomas cautioned, adding that clash between dif-ferent communities in Mani-pur will not end unless India stops its divisive policy.
He then urged all the commu-nities inhabiting in Manipur to understand India's divisive agenda and collectively fight against India to restore sov-ereign status of Manipur and put an end to all unwanted incidents like the present one.
While expressing that spread of rumours heightened tension and consequently led to the present communal clash, the MNPF appealed people to be wary about elements hell-bent on articulating misinformation.
The outfit also paid its high-est honours to all the people who died in the clash and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.
Finally, the MNPF appealed both the Meetei and Kuki com-munities to bring peace and normalcy to live together as usual.
