Imphal, September 15, 2009:
Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) has announced to join the agitation launched by Apunba Lup against the Khwairamband incident and the subsequent demands by the people from September 16. A MUSU statement signed by its 'president' Ph Ibosana informed that the daily MU bus service will also be ceased while also appealing the teachers of the university to extend support.
The statement noted, situation has come to such a pass that there is no meaning on being a Master's or Ph D degree holder when 'under-educated' security personnel resorted to random arrest and killings.
It held the CM and police commandos responsible for being the root of depriving many children from learning.
It is joining the protest bandwagon to register its protest against the excessive killings and to show solidarity to the protests of several students against the government, the statement asserted.
Further, it also urged professional students to join the protest without isolating themselves.
It added that if the students of MU do not pay attention to the protest of fellow students, then the MU students may be considered more atrocious than the government.
Though the statement claimed to have known that the loser will be the students in ceasing to learn, the statement argued that the government has rendered them to those whether 'to die or not to study.' In this case, the students have made their choice over not to study.
