Two day seminar kicks off

Institution of Engineers (India) Manipur State Centre kicked off a two day all India seminar on 'Combating climate change - An integrated action plan' at the auditorium of NIELIT Akampat today.
Retired Chief Engineer, PWD Manipur Th Joykumar, PWD Manipur Chief Engineer Kh Temba, retired Chief Engineer, PWD Manipur M Lokendra, NIELIT Executive Director Th Pameshor and Institution of Engineers (India) Manipur State Centre chairman N Shyamsundar attended the function as the chief guest, special invitees and president respectively.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the seminar, Institution of Engineers (India) Manipur State Centre chairman N Shyamsundar stated that Engineers transform the available materials/resources into favourable outcomes and products.
He maintained that Engineers should be two steps ahead at all times.
Motivating the gathering that Engineers should also contribute as any other individual and be mindful of their responsibilities towards the rapid climate change, he noted that the rate of production has increased tenfold owing to the degradation of the environment/climate change.
He further stated that the number of State's water bodies has been decreased due to rapid encroachment which has in turn made the indigenous fishes vulnerable and some extinct.
