Will urge PM to declare Imphal as Sports City of India : Biren

IFCD Minister N Biren today said that the state government will urge the Prime Minister of India to declare Imphal as the Sports City of India during his proposed visit in the state next month.
He was speaking as Chief Guest in a felicitation programme of Asian Gold Medallist Judokan Likmabam Sushila held at Ibudhou Marjing Laibung today.
He said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be coming here to inaugurate the Assembly Secretariat and High Court Complex at Chingmeirong.
Taking advantage of his scheduled visit, the state government will urge him to declare Imphal as the Sports City of India since Manipur has been a powerhouse of sports and international players in different field of sports.
While encouraging the young players of the state to strive for success in their field, he told that the state government will provide government jobs to state players who bring laurels in international arena.
He presented Rs 10000 cash incentive to Sushila and also assured to provide monthly incentives of Rs 2000 for her dietary requirements.
Likmabam Sushila who bagged gold medal in the 5th Asian Youth Judo Championship held in Lebanon is the eldest daughter of Likmabam Manihar and Likmabam ongbi Chaobi.
She began her career in Judo under SAI Coach Sabitri.
