6 state cops among 113 selected for Gallantry award

Six personnel of the State Police Department have been selected by the Ministry of Home Affairs for awarding Police Medal for Gallantry (PGM) on the occasion of 66th
Independence Day Celebration of India at the National Capital tomorrow.
All the six personnel are from Imphal West Commandos.
They are Deputy SP of Imphal West
District Commando Sarangthem Ibomcha, SI Kh Basantakumar, SI Potsangbam Tarunkumar, SI Koijam Khogen, SI Khangembam Sunilkumar and Jemadar of 6th MR Binoy Irom
attached in Imphal West CDO.
Out of the total 113 police personnel selected for PGM, Jammu and Kashmir tops the table with 15 personnel and Uttar Pradesh in the
second with seven medals.
Manipur and Punjab are in the third place with six each.
However, none is selected this time from the state for the President's Police Medal
for Gallantry which is given to brave and sincere Police Officers.
The highest police medal this year will be awarded to 13 personnel including four from Jammu and
Kashmir, one from Meghalaya and eight from CRPF.
Meanwhile, Inspector Nongmaithem Ibobi of CID Special Branch has been selected for President's Police Medal for
Distinguished Service.
On the other hand, six personnel from Manipur have also been selected among 682 personnel for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
The six
personnel are Deputy IGP (Range I) Clay Khongsai; SP (Telecom) Manipur Police Telecomunication Organisation Heigrujam Kullachandra; Subedar in 1st MR N Chandrajini;
Havildar in 2nd IRB Athokpam Tombi; Havildar in 4th IRB Bhadra Bhattaraj and Havildar in Manipur Police Training College Laiphrakpam Ibotombi.
