Ukhrul, January 14 2016:
The All Hunphun/Ukhrul Tangs Association (AHTA) has sealed the Citizens Alliance for Re-Empowerment (CARE) office located at Old Veterinary Office, Phungreitang Kamphamsom, reports our correspondent.
AHTA president ST Johny stated that the association has permanently sealed CARE office and ban the establishment in Ukhrul town since their service is not required in the district.
ST Johny said that number of youngsters indulging in immoral activities has considerably increased.
CARE has no control over their clients which in turn poses persistent threat to the peaceful atmosphere of the area.
Repeated requests to the chief functionary of CARE to strictly supervise the office failed to yield any positive response.
The Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul has allotted a temporary office for CARE at Old Veterinary Office, Phungreitang Kamphasom in February 2015.However, owing to the incompetency of its chief functionary and numerous public complaints against the establishment, the DC issued an order in October 2015 to vacate the office within 2 weeks.
Despite the order, the chief functionary with an intention to privatised the allotted office signed MoU with some villagers.
He also served a legal notice to the Deputy Commissioner, ST Johny said.
A public meeting was also held at Kamphasom hall wherein the gathering unanimously resolved to ban CARE in Ukhrul town.
The public also agreed to ostracise CARE chief functionary from Ukhrul.
