Jwalamukhi Battalion apprehends UG cadres

Imphal, April 13 2018:
Based on specific information received regarding the presence of United Naga People Council (UNPC) cadres in the general area of Kanglatongbi, Jwalamukhi Battalion launched a joint operation along with police representatives of Sekmai police station and apprehended two UNPC cadres yesterday from Kanglatongbi of Kangpokpi district, said PIB Defence Wing inapressrelease.
The apprehended individuals were identified as Chanaphunlnka, (53) s/o Magoulnka Ijeirong village in Noney district and Veinii Joyson (37) s/o L Veinii (No - 187265, Rank - Regional Council Member, Shepoumaram) of Kodom Khullen village, Senapati district.
The apprehended individuals have confessed that they are active cadres of UNPC and involved in extortion, tax collection, kidnapping and various other nefarious activities on behalf of their organisation, it said.
Veinii Joyson has also confessed that he had joined the group in 2010 and was jailed in 2016.One Air Gun and two mobiles were also recovered from their possession.
An FIR has been lodged at Sekmai police station and the apprehended cadres along with recoveries have been handed over to the police station yesterday, the release added.
