Imphal, February 11 2014:
Unhappy over the alleged callous attitude of the Central and state governments towards the series of atrocities committed on students from North Eastern states studying in other parts of the country, particularly in the National capital, the Joint Students' Coordination Committee (JSCC) of six students' organizations namely AMSU, MSF, DESAM, SUK, KSA and AIMS has resolved to impose 'curfew' on the movement and daily business activities of non-locals in the state with effect from 5 am till midnight on February 12 .
Announcing this to media, convener of the committee Th.Premananda contended that the move of imposing 'curfew' on the non-local people has been initiated has the State and the Central Governments have not taken any appropriate measures with regard to the recent racist attacks on students from northeast in Delhi.
During the curfew non-locals would be restricted from moving around, opening their shops and catering their works and services.
They should stay indoors and obey the curfew called, Premananda said.
