Organic plums, cauliflowers from Lunghar made available at Sanjenthong organic outlet

As a part of the continuous effort of the State Government to facilitate the sale of horticulture products from hill districts and far-flung areas during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) under Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department has made organic plums and cauliflowers from Lunghar in Ukhrul district available to the public at the organic outlet being opened at Sanjenthong.
Today, about a metric ton of organic plums brought from Lunghar were procured by Likla Foods.
More efforts will be put to help farmers from hills districts in every possible way, assured MOMA officials.
Project Officer of MOMA, Soubam Donaldo maintained that such an initiative was taken up as instructed by the Chief Minister, N Biren to ensure horticultural and organic farmers of the State face no difficulty in selling their produce during the COVID-19 crisis.
The agency will continue to facilitate public buy such tasty and hygienic products in future and help the farmers at the same time, the officer continued.
MOMA, in a similar initiative, had made 100 metric ton of organic pineapples grown in Jiribam available to many local food processing companies such as Meira Foods and Likla Foods apart from individuals at Sanjenthong organic outlet, he said.
One metric ton of plums which arrived today has been procured by Likla Foods.
Only 500 kg of cauliflowers reached Imphal for the first phase, he added.
Plums are sold at Rs 25 per kg while the rate of cauliflower is fixed at Rs 33 per kg, the official asserted while maintaining that cold storage charges will be applied on the same items which are being stored at Nilakuthi cold storage facility.
