NSCN condemns alleged assault

Imphal, January 10 2017:
The NSCN has strongly condemned the raids and alleged physical and mental torture meted out to its senior member Namchum Tatar at Noksen village under Tuensang district by the 5th Assam Rifles based at Zhunheboto on January 5 .
The Assam Rifles, on the midnight of January 5, allegedly entered the house of Namchu and questioned him.
When asked of the group he was working for, Namchu identified himself as a member of Tatar of the NSCN/GPRN.
Two jawans allegedly started abusing him after his reply stating that the NSCN-IM are the causes of all the troubles in Manipur.
A statement issued by the NSCN/GPRN further alleged that the AR jawans raided the house of Namchum and later took him to an undisclosed location where he was thrashed black and blue.
The statement urged the Commanding Officer of the 5 AR based at Zhunheboto to initiate stringent steps against the erring jawans.
