Imphal, February 09 2013 :
Manipur Tribal Development Corporation (MTDC) has threatened to take recourse to intense agitations if the State Government does not pay attention to taking up developmental programmes in the hill areas of the State.
MTDC has also demanded to hand over all developmental works related to the hills to the Corporation.
Addressing a press conference at Manipur Press Club here today, Luikang, spokesperson of MTDC, stated that along with assigning work for construction of the district Sports Complex to MTDC, the State Government should pay keen interest towards taking up developmental programmes in the hill districts of the State.
A memorandum in this regard has also been handed over the Chief Minister of the State.
But so far there has been no response from the side of the State Government, he lamented.
Reiterating the demand for handing over developmental works related to hills to MTDC, Luikang asserted that the works done by Manipur Development Society (MDS) are not satisfactory as no quality have been ever maintained.
The demand of MTDC is in the interest of the tribal community, he added.
