Village Chiefs' conclave

20 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 26 Sector AR and Hqs IGAR (S) organised a conclave for village chiefs at its Headquarters in Chandel district.
More than one hundred village chiefs of various villages of the district, irrespective of caste, creed, religion and ethnicity came together for the first time in the history of Manipur, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
The conclave was chaired by 26 Sector Assam Rifles Commander Brig Rajiv Mankotia, who not only took note of the the views and problems of the village chiefs but also suggested them the ways and means to pave the way towards peace and overall development of the district.
He promised unstinted support of the Assam Rifles to the locals and ex-servicemen.
He said that the ex-servicemen formed a very important part of the society.
The Commander lauded the good work done by the ex-servicemen of Chandel district and added that the district was special as it had more than ten thousand ex-servicemen who had provided great impetus in maintaining overall peace and development of the area.
Other dignitaries who were present at the event included MLA ST Nunghlung Victor, CNPO President Gabriel, CNPO Vice President L Modun, CNPO General Secretary Bd Betha etc, added the press release.
