Refrain from poppy plantation, Nemcha

Kangpokpi, December 06 2019:
Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister, Nemcha Kipgen expressed that sports unify people irrespective of caste, creed or religion.
She also said that it is mostly through sports, our State has been often brought to the limelight.
This was stated by the Minister while speaking as chief guest on the 39th Annual Assembly, 2019 held today at Lom Resource Centre, Saitu.
Nemcha further appealed the people not to resort to any forms of illegal plantation like poppy plantation using fertilizers, pesticides and harmful fertilizers massively in the cultivation land.
Such harmful chemicals are one of the main causes of frequent landslide and other forms of natural calamities in the hilly areas, she asserted.
She also informed that Deputy Commissioner of the Kangpokpi District has been already instructed to review all the villages and engaged the villagers for plantation of income generation plants/vegetables.
On this occasion, the Minister also highlighted the various welfares schemes and programmes of Social Welfare and Cooperation Departments and encouraged all to avail various Governmental schemes to improve their livelihood.
