Education should not always be about how much marks a child can secure in examinations.
It should focus more on skill development than academics.
Focus on training young people in employable skills that can provide them with employment opportunities is the need of the hour, Rural Education Wangjing Principal Narengbam Rajivkumar stated.
He was speaking at the World Teachers' Day celebration held at Inspiration for Creativity and Spirituality (ICS) Boarding at Sekpi Khongnang Makhong, Thoubal, today, our correspondent reports.
Raj ivkumar said quality education is not some system that needs implementation.
People should stop making an issue out of it.
He further stressed on the role of teachers in shaping the minds of the future generation.
ICS Boarding founder cum superintendent Huidrom Sureshkumar Singh, former vice-Principal of Army Nodal School Mantripukhri RC Chaubey, IPAK Film Production producer Rakesh Naorem and National film awardee L Tonthoi graced the celebration as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Cultural presentations by the boarding children was the highlight of the function.
