Imphal, March 06 2012:
All Tribal Chiefs' Association, Manipur (ATCAM) has urged Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to release Anthony Ningkhan Shimray unconditionally.
In an open letter to the Prime Minister, ATCAM President AS Shimreishang recalled that Anthony Ningkhan Shimray, head of foreign affairs of NSCN (IM), was arrested on September 27 from Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport after landed from Bangkok on his way to New Delhi to attend peace talks between the government of India and NSCN (IM) the following day.
Pointing out that peace talks have been conducted both in India as well as in a third neutral country, Shimreishang asserted that as such the arrest and subsequent jailing of Ningkhan Shimray, who is also the head of foreign affairs of NSCN (IM), amounts to dishonouring and violation of the ceasefire ground rules.
