Ukhrul, August 05 2011:
The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has strongly refuted the claim of SHDDC's claim that the deceased Yaireiphi Lungleng was a blockade supporter is totally mala fide and untrue, while terming the demand for Sadar Hill district as unjustifiable.
Talking to this reporter, the TKS president Yangmi Khapai lambasted the SHDDC general secretary Tonghen Kipgen's statement in the press that Yaireiphi (22) was a blockade supporter as a "sheer misleading report and a blatant lie to the people in Manipur" .
He said that the deceased girl was a student, daughter of Singlei from Tolloi village, Ukhrul district, and studying BA II at Damdai Christian College, Motbung.
"The girl was in uniform and was knocked down by a vehicle while she was returning from college," the TKS president added.
On August 2, three women were run down by violently swerving oil-tankers at Kanglatongbi after they came under a volley of attacks by blockade supporters.
TKS general secretary Mahirah Raihing warned the SHDDC general secretary Tonghen Kipgen that he will be held "solely responsible for any consequences arising from his misleading statement" .
Further, Mahirah said, "The TKS has all the proof that the deceased girl was a student and was not a party to SHDDC" .
The TKS also demanded that the state government give ex-gratia payment to the deceased family of Yaireiphi Lungleng.
Meanwhile, it termed the SHDDC's demand for upgradation of Sadar Hills to revenue district as "totally unjustifiable" .
Yangmi questioned the roadmap to "create the Sadar Hill district as contentious and adversely affected Naga interests.
We will never endorse the demand of SHDDC," he said.
