Eastern Command extends aid to widow of jawan

HQs Eastern Command, Kolkata sanctioned an immediate financial help of Rs 1 lakh for Holynah Zimik w/o (Late) Naik AS Ngathingkhui of Ukhrul district and her family.
Holynah Zimik has been facing a very difficult condition after her husband passed away in 2003 .
She has been suffering from severe ailments requiring very costly medications and treatment.
In addition, all her 5 children are unemployed.
She had to resort to selling vegetables on the roadside to supplement her meagre pension, to feed her 5 children and meet treatment costs, according to a press release issued by AFESAM general secretary Lt Col L Manongba.
She left her village in Ukhrul district and has been staying in a rented room near the hospital for ease of access to healthcare.
On hearing about her condition, the All Manipur Ex-Servicemen Association approached army authorities at Leimakhong and Rangapahar.
Immediately on hearing about the case, HQs Eastern Command at Kolkata sanctioned an immediate financial help of Rs 1 lakh for the widow and her family.
Officials at Leimakhong military station handed over the cheque of Rs 1 lakh to Holynah Zimik yesterday, said a statement.
Meanwhile AFESAM, Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Association Manipur, has expressed gratitude to GOCs of 57 Division, 3 Corps & HQs Eastern Command for this generous assistance to the destitute widow of an ex-serviceman.
