MLA Heikham Borajao passes away

MLA of Sekmai assembly constituency, Heikham Borajao passed away this morning at around 5:30 at JNIMS after he was brought to the hospital following complaints of breathing problem.
He is survived by his wife three sons and two daughters.
Heikham Borajao was a diabetic patient.
He was brought to JNIMS in the wee hours today with breathing problem.
He was taken to the ICU where he expired early this morning.
His lifeless body was later brought from the hospital to his official quarter at Babupara.
On hearing the news of his sudden demise, Chief Minister O Ibobi, MP Dr T Meinya, Speaker I Hemochandra, Cabinet Ministers and CPI leaders came to his quarter and shared the grief and sorrow of the family members.
The Chief Minister, sharing the sorrow of the family members said that the passing away of Dr Heikham Borajao is not only a big blow to the family members but also to the state as a whole.
He was a very sincere MLA.
His sudden demise is a great loss for the people of the state.
Later, his lifeless body was brought to Irabot Bhawan by the leaders of CPI.
There, leaders and comrades of CPI paid their last salute to the departed soul with floral tributes.
A two minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect.
Pouring out his grief and sorrow at the condolence meeting at Irabot Bhawan, Agriculture Minister Ph Parijat said that it is very unfortunate that a great comrade like H Borajao has passed away.
It is not only a big disappointment for the CPI but also for the whole state of Manipur.
The CPI will carry out the unfinished works of H Borajao and will give a helping hand to the family members of the deceased in every way necessary.
Parijat further said that Borajao's sons will follow in his footsteps, he added.
The lifeless body of H Borajao was later taken to the Manipur State Assembly complex where floral tributes were paid by Chief Minister O Ibobi, Speaker I Hemochandra and the Council of Ministers and MLA's.Finally, his body was taken to his birthplace in Khurkhul Mamang Leikai where hundreds of people of his constituency offered floral tributes.
Later his last rites were performed with state honours.
Meanwhile, MPCC President Gaikhangam and the party expressed sorrow over the sudden demise of MLA Dr H Borajao.
Dr Heikham Borajao was born on March 1, 1949 in Khurkhul Mamang Leikai.
He was a medical practitioner by profession.
He was also the Joint Director of Health and Family Welfare and joined politics in 2000 after taking voluntary retirement.
In the same year he contested in the Assembly election as a Congress candidate which he lost.
Again in 2002 he contested in the Assembly election as a Samata Party candidate.
There also he lost the election.
It was in the Assembly election of 2007 on a CPI ticket that he came out victorious.
